As Ori continues to drive the future of sustainable AI development, founder and CEO Mahdi Yahya was invited by 10 Downing Street to offer his insight and experience in discussion at the AI Opportunities Action Plan Roundtable on August 15.
Joined by fellow industry leaders, the roundtable was co-hosted by Matt Clifford, who was recently selected by the Secretary of State for the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology to lead the government’s review of the UK’s AI opportunities, alongside Varun Chandra – Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on business and investment.
Taking on board the insight and experience of industry leaders, the AI Opportunities Action Plan dives into how the government and the private sector can partner to supercharge growth in the UK’s thriving AI sector.
Carving out a path for the country to maintain its position as a global leader in AI innovation, the Action Plan will map out how the UK can continue to set the pace of development as nations across the globe seek to catch up.
Representing Ori and the wider interests of the UK’s digital and AI infrastructure sector, Mahdi joined discussions addressing the UK’s strengths and weaknesses in AI, acknowledging the existing barriers to growth and evaluating how they might be overcome.
Through his work with Ori, which continues to help lay the foundations for the UK’s position as a European – and global – leader in AI infrastructure, Mahdi has intimate knowledge of the unique landscape of Britain’s evolving digital and AI infrastructure and the distinct challenges it faces.
The UK’s energy sector will play a crucial role in the development of AI – so much so, that it has the capacity to entirely define the scale and pace of AI innovation in the country. Despite this, it’s all too often, it’s sidelined or forgotten about altogether in discussions about the AI sector’s future.
Mahdi took the opportunity to stress the importance of involving players from the wider AI ecosystem, such as the energy sector, in the conversation. Backed by his experience developing and scaling Ori and aware of the hurdles the UK’s AI infrastructure faces, Mahdi shared with industry professionals the benefits of widening AI discussions to incorporate leaders from across a breadth of sectors – from renewable energy to construction.
As the UK strides towards an exciting future spearheading the development of AI on a global scale, Ori looks forward to continuing to drive the UK towards a status as an international leader in AI infrastructure, ensuring that AI projects and platforms have the necessary resources to realise their full potential.
